About
I undertook my B.A. degree in English and History at the National University of Ireland, Galway (2003-2006) and my M.Litt in the History of Medicine (funded by the Wellcome Trust) at the University of Glasgow (2006-2007). I returned to NUI Galway for my PhD on the history of Irish women in medicine (2007-2010) which was funded by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences and supervised by Dr Aileen Fyfe. I spent one term as a visiting student at the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine at the University of Manchester in 2009.
My thesis is available online at this link: http://hdl.handle.net/10379/1792
The monograph of my thesis 'Irish women in medicine, c.1880s-1920s: origins, education and careers' is forthcoming with Manchester University Press.
I currently teach courses on the history of medicine in Britain and Ireland and British cultural history at NUI Galway.
